Estimator

***Minimum Requirement: At least 5 years of proven experience as a commercial Estimator on the contractor side.

 

Duties: 

 

Hard Bids (HB): 

  • Create Spec Section Matrix

  • Manage and execute Call List

  • Engage Subcontractors/Vendor Bidders

  • Perform Quantity Takeoff for all trades

  • Define project-specific scope for all trades and prepare tab sheets

  • Develop Excel Unit Pricing Assessments

  • Organize Bid Day Room

  • Estimate General Conditions

  • Calculate trade portions during Bid Day

 

Construction Manager at Risk (CMAR) Projects: 

  • Develop Project-specific Bid Tabs for distribution to bidders

  • Lead Pre-Bid Conferences when necessary

  • Assist in Bid Day preparation and presentation to the Owner

  • Verify scope with Bidders post-Bid Day

  • Assemble final Guaranteed Maximum Price (GMP) pricing booklet

  • Coordinate with Field Operations for GMP presentation to the Owner

  • Facilitate final handover to Field Operations for construction

 

Conceptual Estimating: 

  • Plan, communicate, and establish preliminary budgets throughout design phases

  • Demonstrate understanding of construction means and methods to price scope accurately, with foresight, through effective communication with clients and design teams

  • Enhance Thrash’s Estimating Processes

  • Uphold Thrash’s Core Values

 

Expectations: 

  • Proficiency in on-screen takeoff and early-stage project organization

  • Mastery of iSqFt Software

  • Collaborate with Business Development for proposal presentations

  • Skilled in Microsoft Excel, Word, & Adobe PDF Tools

  • Expertise in unit pricing and bid tabulation

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Active listening capabilities

  • Build and sustain relationships with Subcontractors/Suppliers

  • Implement effective estimating procedures

  • Comprehend and convey construction means and methods

  • Efficient time management

  • Proficient in Oracle P6 scheduling software

  • Competent in recruiting, interviewing, mentoring, and training

  • Conduct performance appraisals

  • Effective in public speaking and teaching

  • Sales proficiency

  • Maintain excellent internal and external customer service

 

Candidate Qualifications: 

  • Proficiency in conceptual estimating

  • Pre-existing relationships with subcontractors advantageous

  • Prior field experience as a Project Engineer or Manager beneficial

 

Oversight Responsibilities: 

  • Spec Section Coverage

  • Subcontractor Coordination

  • Quantity Takeoffs

  • Preparation of Tab Sheets

  • Proposal Coordination

  • Bid Day Preparations
